Yoga and Postpartum Healing

The postpartum period is a time of profound transition and healing. It is essential that new mothers find support during this transformative phase whether it’s through close friends and family, postpartum doula, or a pelvic floor physical therapist, my first and foremost hope for all new mothers is that they allow themselves to rest and recover for as long as their body needs.

Postpartum Yoga offers gentle movement and breath awareness which promotes physical healing and emotional balance. For postpartum mothers, yoga can help regain core strength, improve posture, and alleviate muscle tension and soreness. This all happens AFTER REST AND RECOVERY.

Emotional support of a postpartum doula paired with yoga practice becomes a holistic approach to postpartum healing. Doulas and trained yoga teachers offer guidance on self-care, provide a listening ear, and ensures that mothers have the necessary resources to thrive.

The nurturing bond between a doula and a new mother is invaluable. Doulas provide assistance with infant care, breastfeeding support, and emotional well-being. When yoga is introduced, mothers can regain a sense of body awareness and mindfulness, enhancing their overall recovery process.

In the journey through postpartum, the union of yoga and doula care offers a space for healing, self-love, and the celebration of the incredible strength that comes with bringing new life into the world.
